A hospital is to a sick person as a service center is to a broken laptop. There’s no best way to fix a laptop than bringing it to a professional. However if bringing it to a service center is not an option because of the ff:
a) financial consideration – fees for LCD repair, esp when you are living in places like the Philippines is quite exuberant. Fees being charged by service centers are quite impractical for the common man, in the Philippines, service centers charge amounts almost similar to the price of a brand new unit.
b) deadline to beat – having your laptop fixed takes a considerable amount of time. Service centers accomplish the task from 2 weeks to 4 months depending on the severity of the problem. You have a deadline to beat and a 2 week to 4 month wait sounds like a death sentence.
So what is the best thing to do?
Two things.
1) Don’t bring your unit to service centers bearing the manufacturer’s name. In the Philippines, third party service centers like those found in Gilmore I.T. center or in SM Cyberzone will not only charge less but will also do the job in shorter periods of time.
2)Turn your laptop or notebook with broken lcd into desktop.
How:
Easy. Just look for those old school crt or lcd monitors not in use, every household seems to have one. Or you can score one from those thrift stores. Connect the monitor cord to the vga port found on the side portions of a laptop . To complete the transformation to a desktop connect an old school mouse and a USB keyboard.
Now you can finish that paperwork of yours.
